Construction Worker Killed In Hit-And-Run In Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help to track down a driver who hit and killed a road construction worker on Highway 99 in Fresno.

Workers were completing a project near the 99 and Clinton around 2 a.m. Wednesday, when a car went into a section that had been blocked off.

At the same time, a 24-year-old woman from Reedley, who had been working at the site, was adjusting reflective cones.

CHP officers say the car hit and killed the woman, then took off.

Northbound 99 traffic was blocked off for about three hours.

Investigators say they are looking for a silver or dark gray newer model Nissan. They say it probably has extensive damage to the right front and windshield, and may be missing the right mirror.
