Porterville Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

KMPH News has learned another local soldier has been killed in Afghanistan.

AJ Pardo grew up in Porterville, and was a 2009 graduate of Granite Hills High School.

According to his Facebook page, he enlisted in the Army shortly after graduating.

He posted that he arrived in Afghanistan in March for a nine-month tour.

Pardo was killed in an ambush where five other soldiers were also killed.

The Taliban took responsibility Monday for the deadly attack, officials said.
