HANFORD, Calif. (KMPH) -
Six businesses in Downtown Hanford are destroyed after a large commercial building caught fire overnight.
The Hanford Fire Department was called to the scene on 8th and Irwin Streets around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters say when they first arrived flames and smoke surrounded the building, and the heat was so intense crews were forced to fight the fire from outside.
The building -- which was built in 1891 -- houses a beauty shop, clothing store and a gift shop among other businesses.
Dozens of firefighters from across Kings County helped knock down the fire.
Several roads in Downtown were expected to be closed for several hours while firefighters continued to investigate.
No one was hurt. Firefighters still don't know what started the fire.
