FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Fresno is the first stop on Old Navy's Funnovation National Tour. It's a day devoted to fun and a profitable day for one local charity.
The party atmosphere at Woodward Park was courtesy of Old Navy. Big Brothers–Big Sisters is responsible for Funnovation coming to Fresno. The non–profit submitted a sixty second video explaining why Funnovation should stop here. "It was a sense of community and sense of belonging and the way the Boys and Girls Club of the Central Valley and Fresno reached out and said we want them to be part of the community," said Kristen Edward-Erceg spokeswoman for Old Navy.
Big brothers–Big Sisters received a grant for 10–thousand dollars. Actor and R&B singer Joey Lawrence dropped by to welcome the crowd. He's also a supporter of Big Brothers–Big Sisters. "I think it's a fantastic organization. Anytime you can tutor you can help raise people younger than you. Give the guidance, an ear to listen to and a shoulder to lean on."
There were lots of fun activities for the kids not to mention food, ice cream and parting gifts. Big brother Vince Perez and his little brother Kreo were matched about a month ago. "Oh yes I can't put into words how much I love being a big brother to Kreo. It's helped me develop into a better person. I come from a large family and I've always been the youngest. So it's a great opportunity to actually be a big brother this time."
Fresno is one of four cities in the country to be selected by Old Navy for a Funnovation party.
