FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A dynamic man of God, believed to have introduced thousands of people to Christian teaching, lived right here in Fresno.
Now, his family and extended church family are preparing for several memorials this weekend to honor his life.
The Honorable Bishop Henry Johnson was a leader of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.
In fact, he founded the Bethesda Apostolic Church and served the Fresno area fore decades.
Bishop Johnson died early Sunday morning at the age of 91.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Jesse E. Cooley Funeral Home, 1830 South Fruit Ave.
A second viewing will be held on Sunday, July 8th from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Bethesda Apostolic Church, 3723 E. Dakota Avenue, followed by a local and state memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
On Monday, July 9th the last viewing will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Peoples Church, 7172 N. Cedar Avenue, followed by a national celebration of life at 11:00 a.m.
