CARUTHERS, Calif. (KMPH) -
It's been a tradition in Caruthers for the past 36 years.
It's called the Independence Day Fireworks Show, taking place on the Caruthers High School football field.
It's always been free, but because of rising costs without the community's support it may not continue.
So this year, organizers passed around a collection bucket hoping to defer some of the costs.
Organizers say it costs about $12,000 a year to bring the show to the public.
The Caruthers Fair Board hopes to raise that and more so the tradition can continue.
