Vandals Damage Cop Cars & Motorcycle

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Vandals attack a Fresno Police Department substation and leave behind thousands of dollars in damage.

Words we can't even repeat spray painted on the sides of police cars, and dozens of tires slashed.

It took hours Friday morning for city crews to replace the tires and clean up more than 20 patrol cars at the Northeast substation.

Neighbors say they can't believe how bold these crooks have become.

Adrianna Valdez says, "We just moved to this side of town, to get away from this on the other side of town, and it still happens over here."

Police say the vandals struck sometime early Friday morning, leaving behind thousands of dollars in damage.

Besides leaving their mark on patrol cars, one officer's personal motorcycle was also damaged.

Fresno Police top brass is taking this attack personally.

Lt. Burke Farrah says, "We do know we will find the people that did this. We do know we will arrest the people that did this. We do know we will prosecute the people that did this, and will insist on full restitution from the citizens of Fresno to the damage that was done."

Fresno Police would not elaborate on its security measures, specifically if they have surveillance cameras in and around the northeast substation. Police officers say they will find these vandals and prosecute them to the fullest.

Lt. Burke Farrah says, "We are going demand restitution for every single penny. They are responsible for these costs. The citizens of Fresno should not have to pay these costs."

Police say none of the graffiti indicates the vandals are part of a gang or tagging crew.

Investigators are trying to narrow down who may be responsible and why they did it.
