SELMA, Calif. (KMPH) -
A sailor stationed at Lemoore Naval Air Station died after a hit-and-run accident on northbound Highway 99 in Selma Friday morning.
The accident was reported just after 10:30 a.m.
CHP officers say the sailor was riding her motorcycle onto the Floral on-ramp and did not negotiate the turn properly. They say she hit the curb, which threw her off the bike and into traffic.
Investigators say a pickup truck hit her and did not stop.
The sailor -- who has not been identified -- was pronounced dead at the scene. NAS Lemoore officials were in the process of notifying her family Friday afternoon.
The CHP says it's still looking for the truck that left the scene. It's described as a light green, full-size, extended cab pickup with tinted rear windows. Officers believe the truck may have damage to its right side and windshield.
Anyone with information about the crash or pickup truck is asked to call the Fresno CHP Office at (559) 441-5400.
