FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
It looks like Valley veterans won't be moving into the new Fresno veterans home any time soon.
Although they are already built and funding for the homes in Fresno and Redding was not entirely cut out of the new proposed state budget, State Assembly Member Linda Halderman says, the level of funding for the homes was cut too low to provide the necessary care to actually enable veterans to move into or live in the homes.
In a statement released by her office Tuesday, Halderman expressed her frustration saying, "It is highly offensive that after two years of no funding and countless promises to the contrary, we leave those who have served this country with scraps."
Halderman also went on to say, "... I am sickened by the fact that California's veterans receive a few crumbs in exchange for their service."
Halderman also says any Central Valley legislator who values veterans has no business voting for this budget.
