Monique Rumpf
LOS BANOS, Calif. (KMPH) -
Authorities in the North Valley have arrested a woman accused of having meth and smoking pot while her young son was home with her.
Merced County Sheriff's Deputies say they went to a home along Canal Farm Lane in Los Banos Thursday to conduct a probation check, when they got a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside.
The probationer's sister -- identified as 19-year-old Monique Rumpf -- admitted to smoking pot in the kitchen just minutes earlier while her one-year-old son was asleep in another room, said sheriff's spokesman Tom MacKenzie.
Deputies checked the home and found no food, but they did locate two pot cupcakes in the refrigerator, nearly three grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and five hydrocodone pills, MacKenzie said.
Rumpf was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and child endangerment.
The child was released to a family member.
