Longtime Stanford assistant coach Trisha Ford has been hired as the new head softball coach at Fresno State. Ford replaces Margie Wright, who retired after leading the program for 27 years.
Ford spent the last nine seasons with the Cardinal, serving as associate head coach for the last four years. Prior to joining Stanford she served as head coach at St. Mary's, her alma mater.
While Ford was at Stanford, the Cardinal averaged 43 wins per season, and made nine trips to NCAA regionals, reaching the College World Series in 2004.
Ford is just the fourth head coach in the 35 year history of Fresno State's softball program.
