SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested a Santa Rosa man and say three young children are safe after the man allegedly rammed his SUV into the front doors of the business where his estranged wife worked and drove off with their children.

Santa Rosa police say Jose Alberto Rojo was arrested Thursday night at a motel in Santa Rosa.

The children, all girls, ages 3, 5 and 7-years-old, were with relatives and were not hurt.

The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for the three girls shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday. It was canceled about six hours later.

Lt. Steve Bair says officers were called to an insurance agency around 11 a.m. Thursday after Rojo went to the agency and tried to get his wife to come outside.

When the woman refused, Rojo left but police say he returned with their children, then rammed his SUV into the building.

Bair says the 25-year-old Rojo was free on bail in a domestic violence case involving his wife at the time of the incident.
