SANGER, Calif. (KMPH) -
It's a camp for kids who face one of life's toughest challenges: surviving burn injuries.
And this summer, more than 140 of them are going.
Wonder Valley is welcoming the newest group of kids for Champ Camp.
The kids will spend the time swimming in pools, the lake and bonding with their cabinmates.
Elizabeth Filmore has been going since she was seven years old, and now works at the camp as a counselor.
"It's better than Christmas. You look forward to it every year, and you just get to be a kid here. It's like your burns don't even exist, and you just get to be a kid and have fun," Filmore said.
More than 1,500 kids have gone to Champ Camp.
This is the 27th year it has welcomed the kids.
