Fresno's VA Hospital is hosting a bone marrow donor drive on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
The drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the hospital, which is located at 2615 E. Clinton Avenue.
"Each year, 10,000 Americans are diagnosed with life threatening diseases which can only be cured by a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor," said Dawn Golik, chief of public affairs for the VA Central California Healthcare System. "In Fresno, there are numerous people waiting for bone marrow donors, including several young children affected by leukemia and other life threatening diseases who desperately need to find a donor match."
It's quick and easy to register as a bone marrow donor. All it takes is a simple swab of the inside of the cheek and some paperwork.
