The last remaining player from Fresno State's 2008 National Championship baseball team, Gene Escat, was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 23rd round Wednesday.
Bulldog teammate Pat Hutcheson was also drafted, going to the Colorado Rockies in round 29.
The last Valley player to be drafted, Clovis West pitcher Tyler Ferguson, went in the 40th and final round to the San Francisco Giants.
Ferguson has signed a letter of intent to play for Vanderbilt University. Being the 1,228th overall pick probably won't change those plans.
At 6-4, and 225 pounds with a fastball in the low nineties, Ferguson's stock will rise as he develops in college ball.
