TULARE, Calif. (KMPH) -

Authorities say two children were shot in the span of an hour in Tulare Tuesday night.

Shortly after 9:45 p.m., Tulare police officers went to a house in the 700 block of Cleveland Street where they found a 9-year-old boy who had been shot. Police say someone fired gunshots at the home, and one of those bullets hit the boy in the ankle.

About an hour later, officers were called to the 300 block of North Sacramento Street after a 1-year-old girl was shot in the leg. Police say the toddler and a 20-year-old woman were outside of a home when someone in a car opened fire.

Police say both children are expected to be okay.

Investigators have not said whether they believe the two shootings are related.
