FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Two people are in custody after leading Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies on a chase and shooting at them Monday morning, Fresno Police investigators said.
Officers say they tried to get the driver of a red Honda to pull over at First and Dakota around 5 a.m. after running the plates and realizing the car was stolen. The driver sped off.
Deputies say they chased after the car, and that's when the people inside started shooting at them. The deputies were not hit.
The driver eventually crashed near Cedar and Ashlan.
Officers took the driver into custody. They say the second person took off but was caught a short time later.
Investigators say a deputy and one of the people in the stolen car suffered minor injuries.
Fresno Police and the California Highway Patrol were called in to help.
The intersections of Cedar and Ashlan and Dakota and First were expected to be closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
