A hiker who went missing in Yosemite National Park has been found safe, park spokeswoman Kari Cobb said Monday afternoon.

22-year-old John Paul Chaufan Field -- a UC Santa Cruz student -- had been missing since Saturday, May 19. The group he was with noticed that he was unaccounted for during a headcount near Kibbie Lake.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, Field was spotted by the park's helicopter near Edith Lake, which is about five miles east of Kibbie Lake, Cobb said.

Park rangers say they found Field unharmed and in good health. He has since been taken to the Hetch Hetchy Ranger Station.
