KINGSBURG, Calif. (KMPH) -

Del Monte foods is closing its Kingsburg plant and consolidating it with another plant in Modesto. Del Monte is one of the biggest employers in the Central Valley. This means about 70 full-time employees and more than 1,100 seasonal workers will lose jobs.

The peach processing facility will close after this summer's canning season ends. The warehouse facility is expected to be open for one more year.

Del Monte says it will work with the city of Kingsburg and the Employment Development Department to help employees find new jobs.
