Fresno State head softball coach Margie Wright believes her team should have received an at-large invitation to the NCAA Regionals.
When the Bulldogs were not invited, it ended Fresno State's record streak of having competed in every NCAA Regional since the event began in 1982.
It also ended Wright's 27 year run as head coach at Fresno State. She announced her retirement last week.
On Monday, the winningest head coach in the history of Division I college softball said this is not the way she wanted to go out, feeling especially bad for her players.
Wright feels her team did enough to get the nod over other bubble teams like Northwestern, a fifth place finisher in the Big Ten, and Arkansas, which lost 24 of its last 35 games this season.
