DBSi’s green energy purchase supports sustainability goals for its Pennsylvania-based data centers.
Bethlehem, PA (PRWEB) May 09, 2012
Data Based Systems International, Inc. (DBSi®), premier provider of data center, Cloud computing, Disaster Recovery, and Managed Services in the Northeast, announced it has signed an agreement to purchase renewable energy from Exelon Energy® (NYSE: EXC) for its Pennsylvania data centers in the form of Renewable Energy Certificates. Exelon Energy is the largest competitive U.S. power generator with one of the nation’s cleanest and lowest-cost power generation plants.
DBSi’s purchase of over 7.7 million kWh of Renewable Energy Certificates avoids an estimated 5,862 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions – equivalent to the electricity use of 663 average American homes for one year. The company’s CEO, William A. Bachenberg explains, “For over a decade, DBSi has been integrating the latest designs and energy efficient equipment throughout our buildings and data centers - focusing on areas such as electric distribution, cooling methodologies, recycling, thermal dynamics within each of its buildings, and comprehensive facility monitoring. By purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates, we not only expand our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, but continue to support and further the development of clean, renewable energy sources.”
As its operations grow and the industry expands overall, DBSi will continue to research, develop, and implement ways to meet their electricity demand while at the same time renewing their commitment to environmental and corporate responsibility.
In business for over 30 years, DBSi is an innovative data center services company providing flexible, cost-effective, mission-critical technology solutions.
