HANFORD, Calif. (KMPH) -
A former Hanford police officer is out on bail, accused of taking drugs off the street and giving them to his friends.
30-year-old Ernesto Servin had been an officer for the past four and a half years. He resigned Thursday afternoon just moments before detectives arrested him on drug charges.
Police Chief Carlos Mestas says officers were tipped off and searched Servin's personal car while he was out on patrol. He says they found marijuana, meth and Oxycontin.
Mestas says Servin lied on police reports to cover up what he was doing on the job.
The case will be handed to the Kings County District Attorney's Office.
