Final State Water Survey Finds No Surprises

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KMPH) -

The state's final snow survey of the year is in and it's no big surprise.

State surveyors from the California Department of Water Resources found "bone dry" fields at Phillips Station near Highway 50 where the snow is already nearly all gone, melted away by warming weather.

At other measuring stations they say, it was a little better with more snowpack than expected.

Overall, state surveyors say Tuesday's readings found the mountain snowpack water content at just 40 percent of normal for this time of year.

But the good news is, thanks to a wetter than normal year last year, state reservoirs are topped off.

State water officials estimate they will be able to deliver at least 60 percent of water requested this year.
