Fresno Christian's Trevor York has the highest batting average of any high school baseball player in the state of California.
Entering Tuesday's action, the third baseman was batting .677. York then had five hits in seven at-bats during a doubleheader sweep of Tranquillity, raising his batting average to .684.
York, a senior, says he loves the game, and the relief it provides from the rigors of schoolwork.
Noah Heinz, the head coach of the Eagles, says he has never seen a player in high school or college get off to such a hot start. Heinz praised York's ability to be comfortable at bat, with the ability to hit any pitch in any situation.
Fresno Christian is 10-2-1, with three games remaining in the regular season.
