Madera County Sheriff's Detectives say they are investigating an attempted child abduction in the town of Raymond.
According to reports, a 10-year-old boy was approached by a man as he waited for his school bus near Road 613 Monday morning, said sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart.
The man stopped by the boy and told him to get into his car, Stuart said. The child refused and ran home.
The man is described as being Hispanic, 45 to 55 years old. He was driving a 70s model burgundy four-door Mercedes.
The driver was last seen near Road 613 and Road 800, heading toward Mariposa County, Stuart said.
Raymond Elementary School and law enforcement agencies have been notified of the incident.
