FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Hundreds of people participated in the second annual MDA Muscle Walk in North Fresno Saturday morning.
The event benefits the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Walkers took a quick stroll down the Sugar Pine Trail near Fresno and Nees.
The money raised will go toward fighting muscle diseases, which many of the walkers know all about.
"It's hard. I mean, I have about 11 doctor's appointments a month. I lost my hearing in the left, and I'm losing the right. I've had about 11 surgeries since I was a baby, and I'm in and out of the hospital. There may not be a cure, but I'm not defeated. I'm still standing," said Emily Serna.
"Muscular dystrophy has should I say... taken one of my friends one by one. And I'm hoping that we can find a cure so that nobody loses loved ones to muscular dystrophy," said Muscle Walk Ambassador Maryann Salgado.
KMPH News Anchor Monty Torres emceed Saturday's muscle walk.
Afterward, the walkers enjoyed some ice cream, thanks to Fresno State marketing students.
