FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Hundreds of employees with the Fresno County Department of Social Services are considering leaving their union, and KMPH News has learned about 200 employees from another county organization already have.
As of Monday, about 250 employees with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District decertified from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) forming their own association.
A spokesperson for the group says they chose to leave because they didn't feel the SEIU was representing them properly.
They say they didn't agree with the union's "us against them" approach, and after a nine percent pay cut and worker strike, they decided to leave.
