FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -
Some rattled parents are breathing a sigh of relief after a police chase ends at a southwest Fresno elementary school.
Fresno County Sheriff's investigators say it started Wednesday morning on Whitesbridge Avenue when a detective spotted a stolen truck, but when the driver refused to pull over, the chase was on.
The pickup blew past patrol cars trying to block it during the half-hour chase across southwestern Fresno county.
It finally came to an end when the driver lost control at West Park Elementary School, but the sight of all the deputies around the school had parents very worried, says District Superintendent Ralph Vigil.
"Parents were calling wanting to know what occurred. They saw the number of police responding, officer response, helicopter, and so forth so we had several calls and we're still getting calls as we speak," Vigil said.
No kids were on the school grounds at the time and there were no injuries. Police arrested the driver on a number of charges.
A female passenger was released.
