COARSEGOLD, Calif. (KMPH) -
The Madera County Environmental Health Department confirmed to KMPH News on Tuesday that one of the towers of the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino was forced to shut down to get rid of what was reported as a bed bug infestation.
On Wednesday, Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino General Manager Matt Olin issued the following statement:
"During the renovation and cleaning of the Chukchansi Towers, our team members reported possible swallow bug bites. While these are not bed bugs, the safety and comfort of our guests is our highest priority and we brought in professional pest control experts to not only examine and treat the Chukchansi Tower, but also to ensure there were no issues with the other guest areas."
"We expect the highest standards of quality and cleanliness out of our guest rooms and we share the concerns of our guests. We can assure our guests that the other areas of the Casino and guest rooms in the Picayune Towers have been examined and are unaffected. The Chukchansi Towers are still undergoing renovation and when they reopen they will meet the highest standards, including upgrades and routine deep-cleaning."
"Just as we took immediate steps to address the issue, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards for our guests and our customers going forward. We are instituting a more aggressive monitoring program, routine deep cleaning, and have retained multiple pest control experts to ensure the cleanliness of our facilities."
