MADERA, Calif. (KMPH) -

A teenager is shot at point blank range on the side of a busy Madera street.

Now police say two teenage gangsters are under arrest.

The shooting happened around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Cops say two teenage boys were walking home from a nearby continuation school, when they were confronted by three other teenagers from a rival gang.

One of the rival gang members shot four bullets into the chest of another teen; that teenager died on the way to the hospital.

The Garcia family who lives nearby ran to his aid before police arrived.

Cruz Garcia says, "I kept telling him hold on mijo hold on mijo, they will be here soon, calling 911 and I saw his friend let him go and he was crying."

Madera police say after the shooting, the three teenage suspects ran from the area and then tried to carjack someone.

Patrol officers in the area stopped two of the three and arrested them.

Detectives confirm they have the shooter in custody.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the third suspect.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the Madera Police Department.
