The school year is entering its final few months before the start of summer, and for some families, it's a time of frustration and irritation.
Families who have a student who is behind academically can find themselves feeling helpless and overwhelmed.
Marriage and family therapist Paul Mavrogeorge joined us on Great Day Monday morning to help families come up with a plan to get their children caught up before the end of the school year.
Paul offers these tips:
-Do not blame the teacher for the problem
-Parents must accept responsibility
-Meet with school staff to develop a plan
-Turn off the TV and game systems
-Eliminate all unnecessary outside activities
-Get all missing work completed
-Work with school to obtain tutorial support
-Focus on finishing strong
