FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Fresno State has granted the request of All-WAC receiver Jalen Saunders to talk to other schools.
If he chooses to leave the Bulldogs, Saunders cannot go to any school in the Mountain West Conference or to three other schools determined, but not disclosed, by head coach Tim DeRuyter.
Saunders, who led Fresno State in receiving yards and touchdowns last season, reportedly is unhappy with his role in the Bulldogs' new spread offense.
Speaking exclusively with KMPH Wednesday night, quarterback Derek Carr said he hopes Saunders decides to stay at Fresno State, but added no individual is bigger than the team.
Carr also wanted fans to know, with or without Saunders, the Bulldogs are loaded at the position of wide receiver.
