
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team had to postpone the first game of a doubleheader with New Mexico, Saturday afternoon at Beiden Field. The 'Dogs trailed 2-1 in the top of the fourth when play was delayed due to rain. The two teams plan to resume play at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 1 with the third game of the series scheduled to begin following the completion of Game 2.
Fresno State trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third when freshman outfielder Jordan Luplow slammed his first collegiate home run off the scoreboard in left.
Junior righthander Justin Haley made some flashy defensive plays in the first. He snagged a soft liner with his bare pitching hand from New Mexico third baseman DJ Peterson with one out. Then, to end the inning, Haley picked off Lobos' outfielder Josh Melendez from first base.
Haley was on the mound with one out in the fourth when both teams returned to their dugouts for the rain delay.
FRESNO, Calif. - Saturday's softball game between Fresno State and BYU at Bulldog Diamond was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Cougars and Bulldogs were tied at three in the top of the fourth inning when the game was stopped.
With two wins on Friday, Fresno State comes away with the series victory over the Cougars. The Bulldogs' record now stands at 24-13 overall and 4-1 in the WAC.
