FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Nearly two million single-cup coffee makers are being recalled because there's a chance you could get burned.
The recall involves Tassimo brewers with the Bosch brand name and Tassimo Professional brewers.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the "T-disc," the plastic disc which holds the coffee or tea, can burst and spray hot liquid, coffee grounds or tea leaves onto a person.
CPSC officials say there have been 140 reports of problems with the brewers, including 37 cases involving second-degree burn injuries. One incident involved a 10-year-old girl who received second-degree burns to the face and neck and had to be hospitalized.
The coffee makers were sold at several department stores nationwide from June 2008 through February 2012. They cost between $100 and $250.
Recalled Bosch coffee makers have date codes between FD8806 and FD9109 printed on the front. The Tassimo Professional brewers have date codes between FD8905 and FD9109.
The CPSC also announced the recall of 4 million packages of Tassimo espresso T-discs after 21 reports of problems.
Officials say you should stop using these products immediately and contact Tassimo for a free replacement.
