CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) -
Officials with the Amgen Tour of California have released details of this year's route.
The tour will make a stop in Clovis on May 16th. It will be the end of Stage 4, which starts in Sonora.
Wednesday, Clovis Mayor Jose Flores and city council members met with organizers and the cycling community to provide the latest updates on the tour.
After riders leave Sonora, they'll face several climbs as they travel on Highway 49 through Moccasin, Mariposa and Oakhurst. Riders will go up Teaford Saddle in Madera County, then they'll travel on Friant Road down into Fresno.
To get to Clovis, riders will hop on Willow, turn onto Copper, go down Minnewawa, turn on Shepherd, cruise down Clovis Avenue and circle around Old Town Clovis.
The finish line will be at Pollasky and Bullard.
Stage 4 will be 130 miles long, making it the longest leg in the tour this year.
This isn't the first time Clovis will be a part of the cycling race. Riders rolled through Old Town back in February 2009.
This year, the tour's star will be Levi Leipheimer. The tour also brings with it tens of thousands of fans.
