FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
We now know the name of the man who was killed in a plane crash west of Fresno Sunday afternoon.
Authorities say 52-year-old Ray Romero Pirro, of Tracy, died when the 1980 Cessna he was piloting crashed into a canal near Barstow and Garfield.
The plane's owner, Felix Boston, tells KMPH News the plane was stolen sometime last week from Buchanan Field Airport in Concord.
Boston says investigators told him the man at the controls of the plane was on parole and that they couldn't find a pilot's certificate for him.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
