COARSEGOLD, Calif. (KMPH) -

Two women were arrested after they were caught being drunk in public, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, a mountain deputy responded to a call about two women seen staggering from a Coarsegold bar and trying to get into a car parked nearby, said sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

29-year-old Andrea Greiner and 27-year-old Rachel Carrick were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of drunk and disorderly conduct.

Greiner was also being held on a warrant issued out of Mariposa County for two counts of battery and disturbing the peace, Stuart said.

Both women are expected in court next month.
