CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) -
Clovis Police continue to investigate a shooting that had a nearby school on alert and forced the closure of a busy road for hours.
Shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, officers received a call from a man who said he had been shot at a home along Herndon near Temperance.
An ambulance took the man to the hospital. His condition is not known.
KMPH News has learned that the victim is a confidential informant in a murder-for-hire case. The trial is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
Officers shut down Herndon -- between Tollhouse and Temperance -- to look for a possible gunman, but no one was found, said police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee.
Detectives obtained a warrant to search the home for possible evidence, but it's not known if anything was found, Stoll-Lee said.
Police say Cedarwood Elementary School was on "facility alert," meaning parents could pick up their children and students could move about the campus with close supervision.
Herndon Avenue was reopened early Tuesday evening.
