Officials say the wildfire burning near Yosemite National Park is now 95% contained, and firefighters think it will not spread.
The Motor Fire has charred approximately 5,200 acres. It started last Thursday after a motor home caught fire and ignited dry brush.
Full containment is expected by Sunday.
People living in the Rancheria Flat and El Portal areas were allowed to return to their homes earlier this week after being evacuated over the weekend because the fire was threatening homes and other buildings.
Highway 140 up to Yosemite reopened Tuesday morning after the fire forced crews to shut down the road to all traffic.
More than 500 firefighters continue battling the flames.
