Sequoia National Forest – Search crews still have not found a motorcyclist, who never returned from a fishing trip.

24–year–old Matthew Trimble left Dinuba early Monday morning to go fishing at Hume Lake.

But it's not known if he ever made it there.

Now his family fears something awful may have happened to him.

Family members say Trimble had every reason to return home – he had an appointment to see his unborn son.

"His fiancée had an appointment...have an ultrasound so they can see the baby," said Delbert Trimble, the missing man's grandfather.

He says in less than two months, his grandson was going to become a father himself.

So when he didn't show up for the ultrasound, his family began to panic.

Fresno County search and rescue crews began scouring the roads that lead to Hume Lake on Tuesday.

They're covering a vast area.

After leaving Dinuba, investigators say Trimble used his debit card to buy gas at a station off of Highway 180 near Dunlap.

They assume he then made his way to Hume Lake.

More than a dozen people with the sheriff's department are scouring the roads.

Family members are also searching, checking the sides of roads, looking for tire tracks, skid marks, or any sign of Trimble and his bike.

National Park officials say their camera caught a motorcyclist matching the description of Trimble passing through the Highway 180 entrance at around 8:30 Monday morning, which is about the time Trimble would have reached that point.  But a park official tells KMPH, it looks like the motorcyclist was leaving the park.

Not having a single focus point makes the search for Trimble a challenge.

"Normally we'll start a search when we have a vehicle or some other evidence that points to where these people went missing, right now we don't even have a point last known other than down in Dunlap," said Eric Schmidt with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

Trimble's family says they'll continue to help crews search and are hoping he's still alive, waiting to be rescued.

"So he can enjoy his life with his son, he knows it's going to be a boy," said Delbert Trimble.

Search and rescue crews ended the search on Tuesday at sundown, and will resume their search first thing, Wednesday morning.

Trimble was last seen riding a black and silver Kawasaki motorcycle with California license plate number 20M3103.
