Mormon Church Releases Statement On Visalia Bishop's Murder

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released a statement regarding Sunday's deadly shooting of a Bishop in Visalia.

The statement reads: "We have learned of the shooting incident in Visalia, California today which has taken the life of Bishop Clay Sannar. At this tragic time, our thoughts and prayers are with the Sannar family and all."

42-year-old Bishop Clay Sannar was shot and killed Sunday by 47-year-old Kenneth James Ward of Modesto. The incident happened at the Visalia Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tulare Street.

Ward was later shot and killed by police after engaging them in gunfire.

Police say at this time no motive has been determined for the shooting.
