It's that's time of year once again; time to enjoy all the deep fried food and rides your heart desires at the Big Fresno Fair.

On Tuesday KMPH stopped by the Fresno County Fairgrounds for a preview of this year's new attractions.

At the Land O' Lakes Butter Barn Shooting Gallery, it's 25 shots for $1.00.

"We been getting hits all day, everybody that comes by here wants to play it," said Galley owner John Daniels.

There is also a new educational exhibit at Dairyville USA where fairgoers can check out how methane is produced from cow manure.

What's a day at the fair without fried food?

"We have deep fried Spam," said Tony Boghosian with Chicken Charlie's.

"We take good old spam, deep fry it in our own batter and serve it with some pineapple and some sweet and sour sauce, it's really great," said Boghosian.

For dessert, how about deep-fried pop tarts?

"We take a pop tart, dip it in a pancake batter, it's like having a pancake wrapped around a pop tart, it's really good," said Boghosian.

While Chicken Charlie's got ready for the big day, 10-year old Lupe Gonzalez is also getting anxious.  On Thursday, Gonzalez stood in line to get tickets to see her favorite performer.

"My sister and I are going to watch Demi Lovato for the first time, she might come with the Jonas Brothers too," said Gonzalez.

With more than half a million people expected to attend the Big Fresno Fair, CEO John Alkire said this year organizers booked entertains to attract all ages.

"Some of our biggest acts will be Chicago on opening night, also Earth, Wind and Fire is going to be big, Smokey Robinson will also be here," said Alkire.

Gates at the Big Fresno Fair open at 11:30am on Wednesday.
