Body Found In Burnt Visalia Church

Posted:

Visalia investigators made a gruesome discovery Wednesday night.

Around 10:45 p.m. fire officials received a call of smoke coming from an abandoned church near the 500 Block of Houston in Visalia.

A Visalia Police officer was in the area and saw the smoke as well. The officer went inside the  building to check for victims, only to find a body outside of the church.

Visalia Police have disclosed that the victim was an adult, but no other identification or cause of death has been released.

All police will say at this time is that violent crimes investigators are looking into the incident to see if foul play is involved.

The church was not fully engulfed in flames, and thanks to a cooperative effort between the Visalia Police Department and Visalia Fire Department, there was no extensive damage to the building.
