The threat of the state budget ax has students and staff at Merced Community College worried about the possibility of more dropouts.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed $300 million in cuts to community colleges statewide, to deal with the state budget shortfall, which would equal nearly $3 million in cuts to Merced community.
Students and administrators are concerned the cuts could translate into tuition hikes, fewer classes, cuts to staff, and fewer hours of operation.
