Free Stuff: The Art Of Getting Something For Nothing Is Easy To Achieve On The Web

It's not about cash, or credit, just time.

After five minutes of browsing the 'free stuff' section of www. Craigslist.com we found a posting for a free hair -cut.

But we weren't the only ones who noticed the advertisement. William Sawtell found it over nine months ago and has been coming ever since.

"Haircuts are about $12-$15 bucks a piece; two kids, that's about $30 bucks every time we come, $45 if I get mine cut too." says Sawtell.

A major savings for their family. "It could save you a lot of money, you know for the three of us it saves us $50 bucks every month or two" says Sawtell.

According to Supercuts Artistic Director Rose Perkins, most of their walk-ins discover the free posting and keep coming back.

"Unfortunately I have to cut the wait list sometimes because the demand is so high" says Sawtell.

Rose credits the rise in traffic to the economy. "Just the times the way they are right now it's really challenging for people to sometimes put that extra money out for a haircut and so when they post it and find it on craigslist or throughout the community where they heard it, they come in saying it's great because it's saving us some money right now either for themselves personally or for the entire family" says perkins.

In some cases you don't even have to leave your home to get free products. One website delivers the goods right to your front door.

On www. Heyitsfree.net you'll find hundreds of free products and trial offers.

The site actually started as a blog from a 25-year-old who scoured the web on a daily basis, searching for freebies.

Today thousands of consumers surf the page to read his reviews and follow through on deals.

For those skeptical of freebies found on the web, sawtell says the deals are endless.

"I found a great deal on a compressor, I found parts for my truck and tools" says Sawtell.

Bargain shoppers like Sawtell say there's no real key to finding freebies.  "Keep your eyes peeled and don't be afraid to ask" says Sawtell.

Keep in mind that while you may walk away with a ton of deals, free items found on websites other than www. Craigslist.com are usually sent to consumers.

That mailing process can take up to 4-6 weeks.
