Charges Reduced Against Teacher Accused of Possessing Child Porn

Posted:

A Fresno Court has drastically reduced the charges against a Fresno teacher accused of 100 counts of possessing child pornography.

Terry Zane, who was arrested back in August, now only faces one count.

The 57-year-old taught in the Fresno Unified School district for the past 17 years, most recently as a music teacher at Wolters and Lawless Elementary Schools.

Back in August Police claimed to have found more than 1,000 pictures of children ages 3-17 were discovered on Zane's computer. The pictures were said to have shown children posing nude, and involved in sexual acts.

Zane's attorney, David Mugridge says the change in charges drastically changes the case as a whole, "it's an enormous change in his possible exposure, he was theoretically looking at well over 100 years now he's looking at substantially less than ten, so it's a huge difference."

Zane has pleaded not guilty to the charges, he will be back in court on October 9th.
