It is looking more and more like the next men's head basketball coach at Fresno State will not have Greg Smith on his team.
Last week Smith said he will give up his last two years of eligibility to enter the NBA Draft on the same day Steve Cleveland stepped down after six seasons as head coach.
At that time, Cleveland said he would try to take Smith into staying with the Bulldogs. But the six-foot-ten inch, 250-point sophomore remains intent on going pro now.
Smith is currently concentrating on getting himself in shape for the upcoming NBA pre-draft camps and individual team workouts.
And at this point, he is not coming back to Fresno State. I'm told the only t hing that could possibly change his mind is if t he school hires a head coach that knocks his socks off, but even that might not do it.
Smith averaged 12 points and eight rebounds a game th is season, after being named WAC Freshman of the Year his first season.
The NBA Draft is June 24th.
