On Wednesday, the Department of Water Resources increased the 2011 State Water Project allocation to 70 percent. This is a 10 percent increase from the figure released in January.
Officials said the increase is due to the recent precipitation, runoff and an above-average snowpack.
In 2010, 50 percent of the requested water was delivered. Initial figures showed that only 5 percent of water would be delivered due to the 2007-2009 drought.
Water restrictions, though, are scheduled to go into effect April 1st unless legal action to block that is successful.
The hearings on those water restrictions are scheduled to start March 23, 2011.
