Local job numbers for August were released Friday, and the news is good.
Unemployment rates across the Valley are down, with the lowest unemployment rate found in Madera County at 15.3%.
Here's a look at where the counties stand on unemployment:
August: July:
Fresno County: 15.4% 16.2%
Madera County: 14.3% 15.3%
Tulare County: 15.9% 16.9%
Merced County: 17.4% 18.9%
Kings County: 14.8% 15.9%
Fields which grew in the month of August include Farm employment, Manufacturing, Trade, Transportation and Utilities.
While the news is good in comparison with the rates from July, valley job rates continue to remain higher than the state and national average.
California's unemployment rate went up slightly from 12.3% in July to 12.4% in August. The National Unemployment rate stands at 9.6%.
