Unemployment rates across the Valley are down, with the lowest unemployment rate found in Madera County at 15.3%.

Here's a look at where the counties stand on unemployment:

                                August:                     July:

Fresno County:         15.4%                     16.2%
Madera County:        14.3%                     15.3%
Tulare County:          15.9%                     16.9%
Merced County:         17.4%                     18.9%
Kings County:            14.8%                     15.9%

Fields which grew in the month of August include Farm employment, Manufacturing, Trade, Transportation and Utilities.

California's unemployment rate went up slightly from 12.3% in July to 12.4% in August. The National Unemployment rate stands at 9.6%.
