The state gave the Fresno Regional Workforce Investment Board more than $300,000 to help train Veterans for jobs here at home. Training will come from PG&E and community colleges.

The grant will help 25 recently released Veterans in the Fresno area.

The assistance is for any Veteran that has been honorably discharged in the past 48 months and able to pass a physical fitness test.

"We can usher them into their best fit so there might be someone that's best geared toward utilities whereas someone else might be geared toward communication so we can help spread them into the different industries that they would best be suited for," said Anna Borgeas with the Fresno Regional Workforce Investment Board.

The program starts in February. Anyone interested can call the Fresno Regional Workforce Investment Board at (559) 905-1836.
